Flat-crown staples have a flat top (crown) with two legs bent downward at 90°. This design provides a larger surface area, making them ideal for fastening applications that demand greater strength than standard staples. They’re especially useful where a smooth, level surface is important — such as securing packages or grouping thick stacks of documents.

The C-staple is the most common box staple. The "C" designation refers to the crown width of the staple. A C-staple has a crown dimension of 1 1/4". It is commonly found in a variety of box staplers. Carton stapling remains an important method for securely closing corrugated boxes. In a world of global transportation using an industrial staple means that the package will arrive unopened. Flat-crown staples feature a flat crown (top) and two legs bent downward at 90°. The flat surface area is better suited for fastening applications that require more strength than a standard staple provides and where leveling is a concern, such as grouping thick documents or securing packages.
